Going back to school as an adult is both exciting and intimidating after years of focusing on work, family, and responsibilities. Stepping back into a classroom and feeling like I could be the oldest one there is overwhelming. However, adult learners are becoming more common in higher education. According to Fortune, "About 33,500 students are in college, nearly half of them are older than 35" (Mumphrey and The Associated Press 1 ). This shows that it’s never too late to pursue education, seek career advancement, higher pay, and job security.
